Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the Digiboxes come from?

Most Sky TV viewers get a Digibox on a 12-month contract after which the Digibox is theirs to keep. After the 12 months is up some continue to watch the free-to-air programmes without paying any further charges. Others continue to pay monthly for their SKY TV package.

The clever ones sign up for a new 12-month contract (and receive a new, latest model Digibox), and sell the out-of-contract Digibox. Every year thousands of out-of-contract Digiboxes are sold - many to people in the UK, but many also go to viewers in mainland Europe. And a few to us!

What do I need for set up to get my box working?

You need a satellite dish (see dish recommendations) and an lnb, which should be aligned to the Astra 2 satellite at 28.2 east. You can install this yourself or get a Satellite engineer to do this for you. We recommend you use an engineer or somebody who knows what they're doing.

What dish size should I get?

As a general rule the bigger the dish the better and a solid dish tends to work better than a perforated or mesh dish. Suggested dish sizes:
UK and Northern France Sky minidish
Northern Europe close to Britain 60cm
Dortmund and Cologne 85cm
Frankfurt 80cm
Bavaria 80cm
Switzerland 47cm Sky minidish
Barcelona 90cm
Vienna 80-90cm
Northern Italy 90cm
Central Italy 1.2 m

What channels can I receive with the sky digital receiver?

See our Channels page for more details

If I decide that I want to subscribe to Sky TV at some point can I do this?

Yes. All the boxes have two card slots, which enable you to use an interactive sky card. You would need a credit card to subscribe and to find someone in the UK who could call up for you. Sky currently offers many packages and subscription channels starting from around 18.00 pounds upwards.
But to be honest if you're an expat like us you probably find that the range of free channels, and the extra free channels with the FTV (free to view) card are enough and you don't have to pay a penny for those.

What happens if I buy a box from you and it doesn't work when I receive it?

All the boxes are tested by us for at least 48 hours prior to shipping. We only send out boxes that show no problems. Whilst no warranty is offered, if any box arrives not working I offer to refund cost of box if notified within 48 hours of receipt and goods returned to me within seven days in the condition as they were despatched.

How can I pay you?

We live near Vienna so if you are in this area you can collect the box from us or we can bring it to you. If you are in other parts of Europe we can accept bank transfer and payment by credit card via pay pal.

What about the Remote Control?

All the digiboxes use the same remote control, and we're so nice that we send one out with every box.
